Charges in Dartmouth Hotel stabbing

Halifax Regional Police have laid charges in relation to a stabbing that occurred in Dartmouth on the weekend.

On April 16 at approximately 3 a.m., police responded to a report of a stabbing in the parking lot of the Best Western hotel located at 15 Spectacle Lake Drive in Dartmouth. Officers located a 43-year-old man who had been stabbed. The man was transported to hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was arrested in the area a short time later. Kyle Colp, 19, is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court today to face charges of:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Possession a weapon dangerous to the public peace
