Charges laid following Tuesday’s armed robbery

Two men arrested following an armed robbery at a business in Hammonds Plains on Tuesday morning are scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today.

Twenty-seven year-old Matthew Leslie Grimm, of East Chezzetcook, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Using a Firearm in the Commission of an Offence
  • Careless Use of a Firearm
  • Pointing a Firearm
  • Possession of Weapons for Dangerous Purpose
  • Unauthorized Possession of a firearm
  • Carrying a Concealed Weapon
  • Possession of a Prohibited/Restricted weapon
  • Unauthorised Possession in a Motor Vehicle
  • Breach of Prohibition Order
  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Flight from Police
  • Driving While Prohibited
  • Robbery with a Firearm
  • Wearing a Disguise
  • Breach of Probation x 3

Twenty-three year-old Austin Michael Mitton, of no-fixed address, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Using a Firearm in the Commission of an Offence
  • Careless Use of a Firearm
  • Possession of Weapons for Dangerous Purpose
  • Pointing a Firearm
  • Carrying a Concealed Weapon
  • Unauthorized Possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Unauthorized
  • Unauthorised Possession in a Motor Vehicle
  • Possession of a Prohibited/Restricted weapon
  • Resist Arrest
  • Flight from Police
  • Robbery with a Firearm
  • Wearing a Disguise
  • Breach of Probation x 5
  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle

Both have been remanded in to custody and are scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today.

The investigation is continuing and other charges are pending.
