Charges Laid in Alderney Ferry Terminal Arson

At approximately 3:30 a.m. on August 16,  Halifax Regional Police responded, along with Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency, to a report of a fire at the rear of the Alderney Ferry Terminal, located at 88 Alderney Drive in Dartmouth.

Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency were able to contain the fire of a wooden structure at the rear of the terminal that housed a dumpster. Fire investigators deemed the fire suspicious and turned the matter over to police for investigation.

Yesterday at approximately 8:45 a.m., investigators from the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division arrested a man and a woman in the 2300 block of Gottingen Street in Halifax without incident.

Fifty-two-year-old Raymond James Marshall was held in custody overnight and appeared in Halifax Provincial Court today to face charges of arson and mischief. The woman was released without charges.
