A man faces charges in connection with the murder of James Mattatall.
On December 17 at 2:52 a.m., police responded to an assault in progress
call in the 1600 block of Argyle Street in Halifax. Responding officers
located an unresponsive man on the ground. He was transported to
hospital and later that day at 1:38 p.m., he was pronounced deceased as
a result of his injuries. The victim was identified as 23-year-old James
Phillip Mattatall and his death was ruled a homicide.
Yesterday at 2:12 p.m., a man turned himself in at police headquarters.
As a result of the investigation by the HRP/RCMP Integrated Criminal
Investigation Division, he will face charges in connection with this
incident.
Thirty-year-old Jason William Whitehead of Duncans Cove is scheduled to
appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to face a charge of
manslaughter.
