Charges Laid in Fatal Collision

  A man faces charges in connection with a fatal collision that occurred last month in Halifax.

 

A man faces charges in connection with a fatal collision that occurred
last month in Halifax.
 
On September 30, at 9 p.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a
motor vehicle collision at the north end of Barrington Street under the
Mackay Bridge. A southbound vehicle struck a northbound taxi resulting
in the death of 67-year-old Ward Robinson who was a passenger in the
taxi. As a result of the investigation by the HRP Accident Investigation
Unit and Patrol Officers, the driver of the southbound vehicle was
arrested and charged on Friday afternoon.

 
Thirty-four-year-old Drew William MacPherson of Halifax faces the
following charges:
220 CC – Criminal Negligence Causing Death
221 CC – Criminal Negligence Causing Bodily Harm
249(3) CC – Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm
249(4) CC – Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Death
255(2) CC – Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm
255(2.1) CC – Impaired Operation of Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm
when Blood Alcohol Exceeds .80 MG
255(3) CC – Impaired Operation of Motor Vehicle Causing Death
255(3.1) CC – Impaired Operation of Motor Vehicle Causing Death when
Blood Alcohol Exceeds .80 MG
145(3) – Breach of Recognizance (four counts)
733.1(1)(a) – Breach of Probation (seven counts)
 
MacPherson is currently in custody at the hospital. He is scheduled to
appear in Halifax Provincial Court today but at this time, it is unclear
if he will be able to attend.
