Charges laid in home invasion incident

Charges laid in home invasion

The General Investigation (GIS) Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division (CID) has charged two people in connection with a home invasion on Lemmon Hill Rd. that occurred during the overnight hours between June 19 and 20. The victim was woken up by another man who had broken into his home. The suspect, who had a knife, demanded the victim’s truck, however the victim agreed to drive the suspect and a woman who was waiting outside to the Dartmouth area.

Some time later, the victim managed to get out of the truck while they were in Colchester County. He tried to run from the area, when an altercation occurred. The suspects got the keys and left with the truck. Police found the victim and he was transported via EHS to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Several RCMP detachments were notified of this incident and assisted to attempt to locate the victim’s stolen truck. The truck was spotted later that evening at a service station in Sackville, New Brunswick.

Members of GIS have continued their investigation and in working with members of Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), arrested Nicholas Alcorn, 30, of Dartmouth and Natasha Sorochan 37, of Dartmouth on July 2. Alcorn and Sorochan were in the stolen truck near the community of Hearst, Ontario when they were arrested by members of the OPP.

Nicolas Steven Alcorn has been charged with:

  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Break, Enter and Commit an Indictable Offence
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Robbery
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Theft over $5000
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Taking of Motor Vehicle
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Assault with a weapon
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Possession of a weapon dangerous
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Breach of Recognizance (2 counts)

Natasha Noel Sorochan has been charged with:​

  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Break, Enter and Commit an Indictable Offence
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Robbery
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Theft over $5000
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Taking of Motor Vehicle
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Assault with a weapon
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Possession of a weapon dangerous
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Breach of Recognizance (2 counts)

They will be appearing in court in Nova Scotia at a later date.
