From HRPD:
Halifax Regional Police has charged a man in connection with thefts from vehicles in Dartmouth on the weekend.
On December 26 at approximately 4 a.m., police responded to Birchwood Terrace to a report of someone checking vehicles in the area. Officers were able to follow the prints in the snow and located a man on Louise Court. The man fled from the officers but was arrested on Birchwood Terrace after a brief struggle. The man was found to be in possession of several items that are believed to be stolen. Investigators are interested in speaking to anyone from the area whose vehicle was broken into that night but have not yet reported it.
A 50-year-old Dartmouth man faces charges at theft, possession of stolen property and resisting arrest. He is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date.
Thefts from vehicles are generally a crime of opportunity, with the sight of items being a temptation for would-be thieves. It is recommended that citizens remove all items from their vehicles including GPS, Satellite Radios, chargers or other wiring that gives the appearance that there might be something of value in the vehicle.
