Charges Laid in Windsor Street Stabbing

Investigators with the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division have laid charges in relation to a stabbing that occurred Sunday night in Halifax.

 

On August 30 at 11:35 p.m., officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the 3000 block of Windsor Street. Officers located a 23-year-old woman suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim was taken to hospital by EHS for treatment where she remains at this time.
 
Containment of the area and a K9 track were initiated shortly after the incident, resulting in an 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman being located in the 3000 block of Robie Street and taken into custody.
 
Today, 18-year-old Matthew Burns of Halifax has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and misleading police. Nineteen-year-old Nilam Premji, also of Halifax, has been charged with accessory after the fact and misleading police.   
 
Both were remanded to the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility overnight and are scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today.
