Charges pending in single vehicle collision on Highway 14

At 12:57 today, a single vehicle collision occurred on Hwy. 14 in Martock. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was ejected during the collision and sustained serious injuries. He was transported via LifeFlight to hospital.

Preliminary investigation has determined that the man did not have permission to drive the vehicle he was using and was talking on a cell phone at the time of the collision. The 39-year-old man from Windsor is facing charges of Theft of a Motor Vehicle and Using a Handheld Cellular Device While Operating a Motor Vehicle. He will appear in Windsor Provincial Court at a later date.

As a result of the collision, Highway 14 was closed for several hours while RCMP officers examined the scene for evidence. It has since re-opened. The investigation is ongoing.
