Chebucto Landing Wharf Repairs

Friday, April 29, 2016 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents and motorists of temporary access restrictions at Chebucto Landing going into effect next week.

Beginning on Monday, May 2, barricades will be installed between Murphy’s The Cable Wharf building and the Halifax Ferry Terminal through the mid-point of the turning circle, to enable required structural assessments and repairs of the supporting piles under Chebucto Landing. It’s anticipated this work will take several weeks to complete.

To ensure the safety of those working on repairs, and the travelling public, there will be no vehicular access to the turning circle during this time period. Deliveries to local businesses will still be possible, as will access to the adjacent parking lot. To ease traffic congestion, we recommend that drop-offs and pick-ups for the Halifax Ferry Terminal take place at an alternative location during this work, where possible.

Pedestrian access along this section of the waterfront will be accommodated, and access to the Halifax Ferry Terminal building will be maintained at all times.

The municipality thanks residents in advance for their cooperation, and regrets any inconvenience this work may cause.
