Child approached at Dartmouth school

Halifax Regional Police are investigating a report of a man who approached a child near South Woodside Elementary School in Dartmouth.

Today an 11 year old male student was on his lunch break at approximately 12:00 and was near the school when he was approached by a party driving a black SUV style vehicle.  The driver invited the student to get into the car, he was refused and the vehicle left in an unknown direction of travel. The driver was a male and was described as white, with short gray hair,  a small patch of gray hair on his chin and hazel colored eyes. There was no clothing description provided. The student reported the matter to the school administration shortly thereafter, and they in turn notified police of the incident. This subject has not yet been located.

Police would like to speak with this individual and request the public’s assistance in reporting any sightings. Police also encourage parents to reinforce with their children the importance of not talking to strangers.
