The Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division have laid charges in a child pornography investigation.

On Thursday January 8th, 2015 at approximately 6 a.m.

, officers with the Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit executed a residential search warrant on Hilltop Drive. Preliminary forensic analysis of computers located at the residence confirmed they contained child pornography images.

A 41-year-old Lower Sackville man was arrested at the home without incident. He is facing charges of Making Available Child Pornography and Possession of Child Pornography. He was released from police custody and is to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on March 10th, 2015.

In October 2008, Nova Scotia introduced legislation making it mandatory for citizens to report suspected child pornography. This means that anyone who encounters child pornography material or recordings must report it to the police. Failing to report suspicious activity and materials could result in penalties similar to failure to report child abuse set out in the Children and Family Services Act.
