So throughout the week I thought about how I’d love stay all cozy in my bed today. How I could sleep in a bit and get the household chore done early. Ang was going to a Christmas party last night and knew she probably wouldn’t end up going to the meeting. AND we had the “Missed Meeting” passes so all signs pointed to not going to WI.
Then I thought about it.
Sure I didn’t have the best week. Sure I wouldn’t have a big loss. But. But. But BIG BUT. Back at the end of October I made a commitment to myself. I didn’t have a good enough excuse not to go especially since Holly and I drive in together. So I sucked it up and braved the cold chilly morning.
I weighed in at 199.6, down 0.2 lbs. I’ll take it!
I’m glad that I did. It felt like a great way to kick off the week. I know what I want and I am trying. These past few weeks have been difficult but all that matters is I keep trying. The holidays will be over soon enough and then my Half Marathon training starts. I have a lot to look forward to. :)
Today’s meeting topic was of great relevance – stress. Particularly, holiday stress. We talked about how to successfully manage it over the season.
Whether you’re going to a small potluck or an elaborate holiday celebration; it should be about the function not the food. Mingle and enjoy yourself while catching up with family and friends.
Learn to recognize your behaviour. Eating is a default coping mechanism for many people. Step away from the cookies and sweets if you’ve just had a fight with the spouse or the crowds at the mall annoyed you. Those aren’t reasons to eat.
Don’t put yourself in situations where you’re “one bite away from a binge.” I baked 14 dozen cookies the weekend before last. I had one, and another and another….and I kept eating them because they were there and tasted good. Next year if we do the cookie exchange, I will bake them the night before and (now that I know the correct recipe portions) won’t make any extra. For the record, the 5 dozen that I received back were dived up and sent directly out of this house!
As usual, Terry ended the morning with a good quote –
“In life we have either reasons or results.”
After the meeting we headed over for the the routine sweat session. 25 mins running on the dreadmill & 20 on the cross trainer. Got a few errands done and now we’re relaxing for the day. Chef Dean (Holly’s hubby) is cooking dinner tonight, smells amazing. I’ve got a whole post devoted to that, look for it soon.
Happy Weekend Bloggies!
