Choking hazard prompts Fisher-Price to recall thousands of Disney figures

Fisher-Price has recalled its Little People Mickey and Friends figure packs, specifically the Donald Duck and Daisy Duck figures, because of a choking hazard. The recall, announced on March 21, 2024, affects about 11,321 units sold in Canada and around 204,000 units in the United States. The affected figures can be identified by their model number HPJ88 and were sold between June 2023 and February 2024. The figures were made in China and pose a risk because their heads can detach during use. Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled figures immediately and contact Mattel for a refund.

The recall involves only the Donald Duck and Daisy Duck figures from the Fisher-Price Little People Mickey and Friends figure pack. The Donald Duck figure has a blue shirt with yellow stripes, a blue and black hat, and a red bow tie, while the Daisy Duck figure has a light purple shirt, turquoise accessories, pink shoes, and a pink hair bow. Both figures have outstretched arms and are about 2.75 inches tall. Mattel has received three reports of the figures’ heads detaching in the United States, but no injuries have been reported.

Consumers who have the recalled figures should visit www.service.mattel.com for instructions on how to get a pre-paid return label from Mattel to return the figures. Once the returned figures are received, Mattel will issue a refund for the two recalled figures. For more information, consumers can contact Mattel by phone at 1-855-853-6224, from 9AM to 6PM EST, Monday through Friday, or visit the company’s website at https://service.mattel.com/us/recall.aspx. The recall is a joint effort with Health Canada, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC), and Mattel Canada.
