HRM release:
The Halifax Regional Municipality is inviting residents to the Halifax Holiday Celebration, taking place on Saturday, Nov. 25. This event will replace the annual Halifax Christmas Tree Lighting.
Residents are invited to join the Kickoff Concert, featuring PAW Patrol, taking place at Peace and Friendship Park on Hollis Street (across from the Westin Hotel) from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Additional performers include Dorothy & Wags from the Wiggles, Donair Supply band – as well as singers Rebecca Guilderson and Jupiter Reign.
After the Kickoff Concert, residents are encouraged to enjoy the Saltwire Holiday Parade of Lights – beginning at 6 p.m. and taking place in Downtown Halifax. See here for more details on the new parade route. The evening will conclude with Santa Claus lighting the Christmas Tree in Grand Parade, followed by a fireworks display to kick off the Holiday season.
Halifax Transit will be offering free Alderney Ferry service from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. The Alderney Ferry will also be operating on a 15-minute schedule during that time. Any Halifax Transit buses servicing the Saltwire Holiday Parade of Lights route will be on detour beginning at 5:30 p.m. For more information, see the Halifax Transit Service Disruptions webpage.
In lieu of fares for the Alderney Ferry, passengers are encouraged to donate money or non-perishable food items to the Parker Street Food Bank. Volunteers from the Parker Street Food Bank will be at the Alderney Ferry Terminal to collect donations.
