On October 13th at approx. 8:30 PM members of the Halifax Regional Police responded to the Centennial Arena, located at 27 Vimy Ave. in Halifax in response to a disturbance / property damage call.
Upon arrival, our officers determined that three security guards working at that location had been assaulted by parties attempting to gain entry into the facility to watch a high school hockey game. The security officers were attempting to enforce fire code occupancy regulations when the assaults occurred. One security officer had been struck in the face, another was injured by flying glass from a rock thrown through the window pane of a door, the final security officer who was responding to the rock throwing incident suffered a minor stab wound. The latter two security guards were taken to hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries and released. Responding officers were directed by witnesses to the area where the suspects had fled, a search ensued and after a brief foot chase four suspects were taken into custody. During the course of one the arrests a Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW) was deployed to subdue the subject.
