Cloud storage files lead to child pornography arrest in Halifax

Police have charged a Halifax man for possession of child pornography.

In 2025, investigators in the Internet Child Exploitation Unit received information that a person in Halifax was saving images depicting child pornography in a cloud-based storage file.

As part of the investigation, a search was conducted at an address in Halifax yesterday. Electronic devices were seized for forensic analysis and the suspect was arrested.

David Mark Laing, 70, appeared in Halifax provincial court [February 5th] to face one count of possession of child pornography. The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information on child pornography is asked to file a report by calling police at 902-490-5020 or by using Cybertip, Canada’s National Tip Line for reporting online sexual exploitation of children, at www.cybertip.ca
