On Friday, March 27, 2015, at approximately 930p.m. while conducting a checkpoint on Main Street in Tatamagouche, a 58-year-old male was intercepted upon approaching the checkpoint in a vehicle.
Breath tests were administered with the man registering 90mg alcohol per 100ml blood. He has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and will be appearing in Truro Provincial Court on June 10, 2015 to answer to the charge.
On Saturday, March 28, 2015, at approximately 12:10a.m. while conducting a checkpoint on Lake Road in Tatamagouche, a 50-year-old woman was intercepted upon attempting to avoid the checkpoint. Breath tests were administered with the woman registering 140mg alcohol per 100ml blood. She has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and will be appearing in Truro Provincial Court on June 10, 2015 to answer to the charge.
On Sunday, March 29, 2015, at approximately 430p.m., Colchester District RCMP received a call via 911 of an erratic driver on Highway 311 in North River. The vehicle reportedly almost struck another vehicle head-on before crashing into a snow bank while attempting to drive away. RCMP made a patrol and located the vehicle parked in middle of the road on a blind corner. As the officer approached, the vehicle took off and drove recklessly down the road, swerving and striking snow banks, before finally coming to a stop. A 47-year-old female driver was arrested for impaired driving and administered breath testing. Results of the testing showed that the woman registered 290mg alcohol per 100ml blood, which is more than three and a half times the legal limit. She has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and will be appearing in Truro Provincial Court on June 3, 2015 to answer to the charge.
In Nova Scotia, driving with a blood alcohol level of more than 50mg alcohol per 100ml blood will result in a seven day administrative license suspension. Charges under the Criminal Code are levied upon driving with a blood alcohol level of more than 80mg alcohol per 100ml blood.
