Colchester District RCMP investigate snowmobile collision, Kemptown, N.S.

2016/1/22 Colchester District RCMP is investigating after a serious snowmobile collision. At 12:25 p.m. this afternoon Colchester District RCMP responded to a snowmobile collision on an isolated area along the Kemptown trail. The location of the collision was approximately 2 km from the Kemptown Rd. and 4 km from HWY 311. A preliminary investigation has determined that the lone 36-year-old male driver from Valley, suffered from exposure, and sustained injuries to his neck and right side after his snowmobile left the trail as he crossed a bridge. The driver and snowmobile crashed into the river below. The male was transported to Hospital in Halifax by EHS Life Flight. The nature/extent of injuries have not been determined at this time.The injured snowmobile driver was travelling with a group of riders at the time of the incident. It is not believed that the condition of the bridge contributed to the incident.The investigation is ongoing, Colchester District would like to thank Tatamagouche Volunteer Fire Department and the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources for the assistance they provided.
