Colchester District RCMP are investigating a structure fire that occurred overnight in Stewiacke.

Last evening at approximately 8:30 p.m., RCMP received a 911 call advising one of the storage sheds at the Stewiacke Home Hardware was on fire.

RCMP and fire departments from Brookfield, East Hants, Enfield and Stewiacke responded to this fire and determined the fire was contained to the storage shed only. This shed was inside a gated, locked compound and the fire department cut the lock off to gain access to the shed. The shed was used to store miscellaneous items.

The fire was extinguished by 1:30 a.m. this morning and RCMP secured the scene awaiting arrival of the Fire Marshal. RCMP remain on scene with the Fire Marshal to determine the exact cause of the fire. At this time, the cause of the fire has not been determined.

The investigation is continuing.
