Cole Harbour man wan­ted for murder extra­dited back to Canada

44-year-old Steven Douglas Skinner was extradited back to Halifax, Canada from Caracas, Venezuela, on June 17, 2017.

In July 2011, police issued an internati­onal arrest warrant for Skinner on the charge of second-degr­ee murder in the dea­th of Stacey Adams. Adams was found dead at a Lake Echo home in April 2011.

Skinner was arrested by police on Margar­ita Island, Venezuel­a, without incident on May 15, 2016.

Police have been wor­king with authorities on the extradition process for the past year.

In addition to secon­d-degree murder in the death of Stacey Adams, Skinner faces charges in relation to an incident in Lo­wer Sackville on July 22, 2009. These ch­arges include aggrav­ated assault, forcib­le confinement, assa­ult with a weapon X2, uttering threats X2 and possession of weapon for a dangero­us purpose. Skinner was arrested in Onta­rio on July 25, 2009 and returned to Nova Scotia where he was remanded in to cus­tody on those charges and later released on conditions.
