Cole Harbour Place Will Reopen Monday, Except for Scotia 1 Arena

Sunday, March 22, 2015 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that Cole Harbour Place will reopen on Monday, March 23, except for the Scotia 1 Arena, which still needs work to remove snow and ice from its roof.

The entire facility was closed today as a precaution until a structural assessment was done. On Saturday, building maintenance staff and members of Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency helped to clear the drains before it rained but further work is required to remove the frozen snow and ice weighing on parts of the building.

Workers will start Monday morning to clear the roof of the arena. In the meantime, that area of the facility will remain closed to ensure the safety of employees and patrons.

The public will be notified through another Public Service Announcement when the arena reopens. Regular hours of operation are in effect for the rest of the facility. For more information on Cole Harbour Place, visit http://www.coleharbourplace.com/.

The municipality apologizes for any inconvenience the closure of the arena may cause; however safety must be our top priority.
