Commission Extends Temporary Cease Trade Order

The Nova Scotia Securities Commission has extended a temporary cease trade order against Michael A. Harrigan.

The commission hearing scheduled for Thursday, July 31 will be rescheduled. Mr. Harrigan is ordered not to act as a registered representative or trade in securities for anyone but himself, until a hearing is held and a decision made by the commission.

“It is common practice for a temporary order to be extended when an investigation is ongoing,” said Heidi Schedler, enforcement counsel. “The extension order provides investor protection to Nova Scotians while we continue our investigation.”

Mr. Harrigan is a former dealing representative, but is no longer registered with the commission. He appears to have violated Nova Scotia securities laws by trading in securities without being registered.
