Community Crime Prevention and Reduction Grants Available

Community groups that work to prevent and reduce crime can apply for provincial support to help make their communities safer.

Government is accepting applications to fund community-based activities, projects and programs that address root causes of crime.

“Preventing crime is everyone’s responsibility, and if we want to make a difference, we have to work together,” said Justice Minister Lena Diab. “That’s why we’re encouraging organizations to submit joint proposals that show how they can help their communities more effectively by teaming up.”

The One-time Community Crime Prevention and Reduction Investment Grant Program awards $40,000 annually. Nova Scotians are eligible to apply for grants of $1,000 to $5,000. Previous recipients include community organizations, schools and the private sector.

Online applications for the program will be accepted until Feb. 28. For more information and applications, visit http://novascotia.ca/just/prevention/.
