Community health team offering new mental health and stress programs

Below notes from the Community Health Team, based in the Spryfield Wellness Centre. Programs starting soon (some have already started, but catch the next round).

Free program: Mental Health First Aid – Adults Interacting with Youth 4-Week Program
 
Mental Health First Aid is help provided to a person developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. 
To become a Mental Health First Aider, and receive a certificate of completion, attendance at all 4 sessions is required.
 
WHEN – Mondays: Sept 10, 17, 24 & Oct 1 from 1:00-4:30 pm
WHERE – Community Wellness Centre, 16 Dentith Road

Living With Stress: Skills for Life (4-Week Program)
 
Stress is a part of everyday life. Having a toolkit to handle stress can help us feel capable to deal with new stressful situations as they come up, and can even help us reduce the stress we currently have in our lives.
 
During this program, you will:
 
·        Learn about and practice  time management skills.
·        Learn and practice relaxation techniques.
·        Learn about mindfulness and how to use it.
·        Have fun exploring humor and creative expression.
·        Receive resources to keep up your skills once the program is complete.
 
This session is offered 2 hours a week for four weeks – three different dates and times are available:
 
Mondays: Sept 17 – Oct 15 from 5 – 7 pm @ the Community Wellness Centre (16 Dentith Road)
Wednesdays: Oct 10 – 31  from 1 – 3 pm @ Mosaic Ministries (28 Willett Street)
Thursdays: Nov 8 – 29 from 10am – 12pm @ the Community Wellness Centre (16 Dentith Road)
