Construction worker hit by truck in Eastern Passage, charges laid

RCMP release:

Halifax District RCMP has arrested a man involved in a serious collision in Eastern Passage.

On November 10, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Halifax District RCMP, fire and EHS, responded to a report of a collision on Main Rd. RCMP officers learned that a Toyota Tacoma was travelling on the road when it struck a construction worker who was painting yellow traffic lines in a construction zone.

The worker, a 59-year-old Halifax man, suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital by EHS.

The driver of the Tacoma, a 36-year-old Eastern Passage man, did not suffer injuries but was exhibiting signs of impairment. He was safely arrested at the scene and transported to the Cole Harbour RCMP Detachment where he provided breath samples that registered 170mg% and 180mg%.

The 36-year-old man was later released; he is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on December 13, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. to face charges of Operation of a Conveyance 80mg% or over and Impaired Operation of a Conveyance Causing Bodily Harm.
