Construction worker hospitalized after being hit by vehicle

RCMP release:

RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment is investigating a vehicle-pedestrian collision in Hammonds Plains.

Yesterday, at approximately 3 p.m., RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment, fire services, and EHS, responded to a report of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Hammonds Plains Rd. and Yankeetown Rd. RCMP officers learned that a Hyundai Kona was stopped in a construction zone then struck a worker holding a traffic sign.

The worker, a 63-year-old man, suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital by EHS.

The driver of the Kona, an 82-year-old Hacketts Cove woman, did not suffer physical injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
