Construction of a new roundabout in Fall River will help reduce highway tie-ups and improve safety on Highway 102 and Highway 118.
Work on the $2,611,422 contract, awarded to Dexter Construction Co. Ltd.
, will begin Sunday, Sept. 28, and involves the construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Highway 2 and the ramps from Highway 102 and Highway 118.
The roundabout will help improve the flow of rush-hour traffic through the intersection.
To reduce traffic delays during construction, most of the work will be done during the night, but delays are possible during the day. Drivers should plan extra time for their trip and use caution when travelling through the construction zone. Use an alternate route if possible.
Construction is scheduled to be completed before the end of December.
Modern roundabouts have a proven track record around the world for reducing the number, and severity, of collisions and for keeping traffic moving smoothly.
