RCMP release:
Kings District RCMP has charged two men after executing search warrants at three commercial properties in the New Minas area.
During the July 30 searches on Commercial St. in New Minas and on Hwy. 12 in Welton Landing, officers found and seized hundreds of small quantity packages of illegal cannabis, tobacco, and vape products, as well as a quantity of psilocybin.
A 33-year-old man and a 27-year-old man, both of Kentville, were arrested in relation to the searches. They will be facing charges under the Cannabis Act, including Unauthorized Possession of Cannabis at a Business; Unauthorized Possession of Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling; and Trafficking in Controlled Substances. They also face a charge under the Tobacco Act.
Both men were released on conditions and are scheduled to appear in Kentville Provincial Court on October 30, at 9:30 a.m.
The investigation was conducted with the assistance of the Criminal Intelligence Service Nova Scotia, Kentville Police Service, Kings District RCMP General Investigative Section and the West Hants RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit in conjunction with Service Nova Scotia.
The Nova Scotia RCMP reminds residents that the only legal way to purchase cannabis in the province is at licensed locations.
