Traffic Advisory – Smokey Drive – Emergency Environmental Cleanup in Stormwater System

(July 9, 2024) Halifax Water has a contractor onsite at Smokey Drive in Lower Sackville to perform an emergency environmental clean-up in the stormwater system. As a result of the spill caused by a third party, local residents may smell oil fumes.

This work will not impact Halifax Water services in the area. However, there will be stop-and-go traffic from 203 Smokey Drive to Glendale Drive. Experienced traffic control personnel will be on-site to manage traffic flows. Sidewalks will remain open.

Motorists should expect delays and use alternate routes. Motorists are also reminded that speed fines double in work zones.

We apologize for any inconvenience this necessary infrastructure repair work may cause.

To ensure the safety of our communities and our staff, please maintain a safe distance when Halifax Water staff or contractors are working in your area.
