MIDDLE SACKVILLE, Nova Scotia Costco Wholesale Canada Ltd. has formally confirmed its intention to establish a third retail warehouse facility within the Province of Nova Scotia, to be situated on lands adjacent to Sackville Drive near the Cobequid Road interchange in Middle Sackville, Halifax Regional Municipality. The announcement concludes a multi-year period of site assessment, municipal consultation, and infrastructure planning undertaken in cooperation with Halifax Regional Municipality.
Construction is scheduled to commence in the summer of 2026, with the facility anticipated to open to the public in the second quarter of 2027. The location will include a full-service fuel station, tire centre, and optical department. All existing Costco memberships will be honoured at the new location effective on the date of opening.
“This development represents a significant milestone for the lakes communities and the broader Sackville corridor,” said an HRM spokesperson. “Halifax Regional Municipality looks forward to supporting the necessary infrastructure approvals to bring this project to completion in a timely manner.”
In a supplementary announcement issued concurrently, Maritime Launch Services Inc., the Nova Scotia-based commercial aerospace company headquartered in Canso, confirmed the execution of a co-occupancy agreement designating a portion of the Middle Sackville Costco location’s parking area as a secondary launch staging area. The arrangement represents the first known partnership of its kind between a national retail corporation and a domestic commercial spaceflight operator in Canadian history.
Under the terms of the retail-aerospace partnership, active Costco membership holders will be entitled to a twenty percent (20%) discount on eligible commercial space launch packages offered by Maritime Launch Services Inc. Members are advised to present valid membership credentials at time of booking. The preferential pricing program is scheduled to take effect on April Fool’s Day, April 1, 2027. Additional parking considerations will be communicated in advance of launch activities.
