The new deputy mayor takes over from Deputy Mayor Reg Rankin who held the position for a one-year term.

“I look forward to representing mayor and council as we work towards accomplishing what we see as our priorities,” said Deputy Mayor Fisher. “I encourage Mayor Savage to step down from the chair to participate in debate and to share his thoughts when he wishes. I will step in as needed.”

Deputy Mayor Fisher has been a member of Regional Council since a byelection in September 2009. A lifelong resident of Dartmouth, the deputy mayor and his family have called Dartmouth their home for generations.
