Dartmouth NS (January 18, 2016) –A couple from Mount Uniacke have been sentenced to a lifetime prohibition on owning animals after leaving their 10 year old female chow mix outside last March.
The Nova Scotia SPCA has charged them with failing to provide their dog with reasonable protection from injurious cold contrary to section 22 (c) and for causing an animal to be in distress under section 21 (1) of the of the Animal Protection Act.
Trial was set for January 18th, 2016 and the couple pled guilty to the charge of causing an animal to be in distress.
In addition to a lifetime prohibition on owning animals the couple has been ordered to pay The Nova Scotia SPCA $1180.00 in restitution.
