RCMP release:

Digby RCMP is investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Hwy 101 near the Marshalltown exit.

On July 25 at approximately 4:05 p.m., Digby RCMP, fire services, and EHS responded to a report of a collision on Hwy. 101, just east of the Marshalltown exit. Officers learned that a black Dodge Ram 1500 truck and a red Chevrolet Trax SUV collided in the eastbound lane.

The driver of the SUV, a 79-year-old woman from Plympton, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the truck had serious, non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital by EHS. There were no passengers in either vehicle.

Digby RCMP is requesting that anyone who witnessed this collision or who has dashcam footage contact police at 902-245-2579.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the scene and the investigation is ongoing, assisted by the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service. The highway was closed for several hours, with traffic rerouted around the Digby and Marshalltown exits, and the road has since reopened. Our thoughts are with the victim’s loved ones at this difficult time.
