Crime of the week – Police investigate an assault, Halifax, N.S.

The General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division and Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers are asking for the public’s help in solving an assault.

At approximately 3:45 a.m. on October 4, 2015, a 21-year-old male was standing on Salter Street in the 5100 block of Halifax trying to get a taxi when he was approached from behind by an unknown man.

The suspect punched the victim in the face, causing him to fall to the ground. A witness advised police that there was a second man who also punched the victim. The suspects left the area on foot heading towards Barrington Street, possibly with a number of other men. The victim attended the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, during which it was determined his jaw was broken in two places as a result of the assault. The victim later called the police from hospital.

The suspects, both Caucasian, are described as being in their twenties. One man, who was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, stands approximately six feet tall with a stocky build and is either bald or had a buzz cut. The second suspect was wearing dark clothing and is of average height. The investigation into this matter continues.
