Crime of the week – Theft of sailing equipment, Tantallon, N.S.

Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers and Halifax District RCMP is asking for the public’s help identifying the person or person’s responsible for the theft of sailing equipment in Tantallon.

On August 11 at approximately 2:15 p.m., Tantallon RCMP received a complaint involving the theft of items from a sailboat stored on the property at Shining Waters Marina, 148 Nautical Way, Tantallon. Items stolen include a 36′ frigate steering wheel, a self steering mechanism and a 10kg anchor. These items are worth combined total of approximately $2,500. It is suspected that these items were stolen between August 8 and August 10, 2015. Police expect that the suspect(s) have a good knowledge of sailing vessels and equipment as these are specialized items.

Halifax District RCMP is asking anyone with information on this incident to contact the Tantallon RCMP detachment at (902) 826-3100 or to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), text TIP202 + your message to ‘CRIMES’ (274637), or by Secure Web Tips at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca. Calls to Crime Stoppers are not taped or traced and if police make an arrest and lay charges based on a tip, callers qualify for a cash reward from $50 -$2000.
