Crosby and the Cup coming back to Cole Harbour July 16

Thursday, July 7, 2016 (Halifax, NS) – Hockey fans of all ages are in for a special treat next weekend as Cole Harbour’s Sidney Crosby brings home the Stanley Cup® once again.

In honour of Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins’ Stanley Cup win, a parade with Sidney and the Stanley Cup® will be held in Cole Harbour on Saturday, July 16 at 10:30 a.m. This is a rain or shine event. The parade is expected to last approximately 45 minutes, with more details forthcoming about a follow-up event with Sidney at Cole Harbour Place.

The parade will begin at the St. John XXIII Church at 35 Colby Drive, proceed north on Cumberland Drive, across Cole Harbour Road onto the Forest Hills Parkway, continuing north along the Parkway to the lights at Cole Harbour Place, and turning into Cole Harbour Place at which point the parade will end. Spectators can line both sides of Cumberland Drive and Forest Hills Parkway to view the parade.

To accommodate the parade, Cumberland Drive and Forest Hills Parkway will be closed in both directions while the parade is underway. Motorists should plan ahead and expect significant traffic disruptions in the area from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The intersection of Cole Harbour Road and Cumberland Drive will be closed as the parade proceeds by and will re-open five minutes after the rear police vehicle passes onto the Forest Hills Parkway.

RCMP will have traffic control officers at all intersections to ensure vehicles cannot enter this area while the parade is ongoing. Please note parking will be restricted on both sides and along the entire length of the parade route.

To reduce potential traffic disruptions and provide easy access to and from the event, Halifax Transit will offer free bus shuttles as follows:

To the event: Penhorn and Mic Mac Terminal shuttles will depart every 10 minutes from 7:50 a.m. to 10 a.m., travelling directly from the Penhorn and Mic Mac Terminals to Cole Harbour Place.
