Brian Warcop has been appointed as a Crown attorney in the Halifax office of the Public Prosecution Service.
Martin Herschorn, director of public prosecutions, announced the appointment today, May 7.
“Mr. Warcop has a solid background in criminal prosecutions and he will be a valuable addition to our team of Crown attorneys,” said Mr.
Herschorn.
A native of Glace Bay, Mr. Warcop graduated in 2000 from Dalhousie University with a bachelor of arts in psychology and sociology. In 2004, he graduated from Queen’s University law school.
Mr. Warcop articled with Heller, Rubel in Toronto, concentrating on criminal law, and joined the firm as a junior partner a year later. In 2006, he was appointed as an assistant Crown attorney in Toronto by the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General. In 2010, he transferred to Newmarket, Ont. as an assistant Crown attorney. Two years later, Mr. Warcop took on the role of case management Crown in the Newmarket office.
As a Dalhousie student, Mr. Warcop volunteered as a probation officer representative, monitoring conditions of probation and drafting pre-sentence reports. As a Queen’s law student, he volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada and assisted the Ontario Society of Cardiovascular Associated Professionals in setting up a governing college.
