Crown Attorney Appointed in Halifax


Stacey Gerrard has been appointed a Crown attorney in Halifax.

“I am pleased to have a lawyer of Ms. Gerrard’s varied experience join our team of Crown attorneys,” said Martin Herschorn, director of public prosecutions, who announced the appointment today, Nov. 29. “She will be an asset to the Public Prosecution Service.”

A native of Miramichi, NB, Ms. Gerrard graduated from the University of Ottawa in 1999 with a bachelor of laws – civil laws and in 2000 with a bachelor of laws – common laws.

She articled with Burchell Hayman Parish in Halifax. In 2004 Ms. Gerrard was appointed legal counsel in the Civil Litigation and Advisory section of the Halifax office of Department of Justice Canada. She worked as legal counsel in the legal services division of the Nova Scotia Department of Justice on a term basis in 2006 and 2007. Following a term with Bell Aliant as senior manager, Secretariat, Ms. Gerrard was appointed officer of complaints and investigations with the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society. In 2010, she joined the Lawyers’ Insurance Association of Nova Scotia as legal counsel.

Since May 2017 Ms. Gerrard has been working as a per diem Crown attorney with the Nova Scotia Public Prosecution Service.
