Darcy MacDonald on the iPad3

Our new tech blogger Darcy MacDonald blasts out of the gates with a digestable blog about the latest update to their iconic tablet.

Apple’s mission is to create a product that people don’t know they want yet, so I’m always interested to see what they’ve created.

It’s been a year since the arrival of Apple’s iPad2, and tomorrow they’ll be releasing the third generation called the “new iPad”.  The most impressive addition to the tablet is its “retina display”, featuring a 2048 X 1536 resolution on a 9.7 inch screen (that’s 264 pixels per inch).

Apple has also included a new processor, with a duel-core CPU and a powerful quad-core graphics processor which is what makes the better-than-HDTV-display possible.  The new iPad also features improved cameras, allowing users to capture full 1080 video, along with 5 megapixel photographs.  They have a wider aperture (2.4 f-stop), and a five-element lens, showing that Apple really cares about improving their product.  Only one question still remains – what’s next for the tablet?  We all know the iPad2 came after the iPad, but what comes after the “new iPad”?
