Dartmouth Incident Referred to SIRT

Halifax Regional Police has referred an incident that occurred yesterday to the Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) for investigation.

At approximately 11:50 p.m. last night, officers attended an address on Galaxy Avenue in Dartmouth looking for a 32-year-old man in relation to two breaches of court-imposed conditions. Officers located the man in an apartment and advised him he was being arrested. The man then went back inside the apartment.

Not long after, officers located the man in a nearby parking lot under a car and it was obvious he was injured. He was transported to hospital by EHS for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, where he remains at this time. Officers will be following up to serve him release documents to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date to face two counts of being unlawfully at large.

As this incident resulted in injuries following police involvement, Halifax Regional Police contacted SiRT and they are conducting an investigation into this matter. Any questions about their investigation should be directed to SiRT.
