Demolition preparations to get underway at 6067 Quinpool Road

Thursday, July 16, 2015 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents of upcoming demolition preparation activities scheduled to get underway next week at 6067 Quinpool Road, the site of the former Saint Patrick’s High School.

In 2014, 6067 Quinpool Road was declared surplus property by Regional Council, and the land is now being prepared for future sale and development. Site preparation and securement of the vacant buildings will commence on Monday, July 20, 2015, with demolition of the facility and remediation of the site expected to occur over the next 12 months.

Sidewalk and active transportation access will be temporarily restricted while the exterior construction fence is installed, however it’s anticipated that further sidewalk and active transportation trail access restrictions will be minimal throughout the demolition process.

The municipality appreciates residents’ cooperation and understanding throughout this process and regrets any inconvenience that may be caused. Construction activity updates and public service announcements will be posted regularly at www.halifax.ca/property/6067QuinpoolRd.php and https://apps.halifax.ca/hfxnews.

For more information on the Quinpool 6067 site disposal process and public consultation opportunities, including the upcoming open house on July 22, visit http://shapeyourcityhalifax.ca/Quinpool6067.
