Bernie Miller has been appointed deputy minister of the Office of Strategy Management, Premier Stephen McNeil announced today, Sept. 21.
“Mr. Miller has been an important voice in government over the past several years and has the skills necessary to ensure progress on the priorities that are most important to Nova Scotians,” said Premier McNeil. “I am pleased that he has accepted the appointment.”
The Office of Strategy Management was announced in the Speech from the Throne and will replace the Premier’s Delivery Unit. It will be responsible for the collaborative development, communication and measurement of government priorities as identified by the premier and Executive Council. It will translate priorities into specific outcomes in departments, track performance and report progress in key areas to Executive Council.
Staff from the Premier’s Delivery Unit will become part of the new office, which will have five staff positions in addition to the deputy minister.
Mr. Miller’s appointment is effective Oct. 1.
