HRM roadwork

Crews are busy across the city today. Here’s what’s happening right now and in the days ahead:

  • Cathedral Lane (near College St., by the Halifax Commons and Dalhousie Sexton campus)Today only, Sept. 12 – Stop-and-go traffic for asphalt repair.
  • Lady Hammond Road (north end, between Bright Place and High St.)Today, Sept. 12, 9 a.m.–4 p.m. – Stop-and-go traffic for pipeline installation. Alternate routes: Duffus or Young.
  • Hollis Street (downtown waterfront, between Prince and Sackville) – Sept. 16 – One lane open, east sidewalk and bike lane closed.
  • Spring Avenue (Dartmouth, between Belle Vista Dr. and Pembroke Ct., near Penhorn Lake) – Sept. 15–Oct. 31 – Rolling lane reductions for repaving.
  • Rocky Lake Drive (Bedford, from Bedford Hwy to civic #440 Rocky Lake Dr.) – Sept. 14, 16, 17 (overnight) – Stop-and-go traffic for road repairs.
  • Intersection of Rocky Lake Dr. and Bedford Hwy (by Basinview Dr. School area) – Sept. 14, 16, 17 (overnight) – Traffic lights off, stop-and-go traffic.
  • Quinpool Road (near Oxford St., civic #6169, close to Atlantica Hotel) – Ongoing hydrant repair, lanes reduced but two-way maintained.
  • Larry Uteck Blvd. (roundabout at Nine Mile Dr., Bedford South) – Ongoing police closure after a crash. Detour in place.
  • Highway 107, Lower Sackville (Exit 4C ramps at Hwy 102 interchange) – On-ramps closed, traffic detoured through roundabouts. Work expected to finish Sept. 16.

Provincial roadwork

Province-wide, here’s where you’ll run into longer-term projects:

Halifax County

  • Peggy’s Cove Road (Indian Point Rd. to Trunk 3 – main access in/out of Peggy’s Cove village) – One lane until Nov. 28. Expect tourist traffic delays.

Cape Breton Regional Municipality

  • Crawley Creek Bridge, Point Aconi (north of Sydney Mines, toward power station)Wrapping up today, Sept. 12 – Closed with detour in place.
  • Highway 125, Sydney (Exit 4 to 5A, beside Mayflower Mall) – Lane drops until Oct. 15.
  • Highway 125 at Grand Lake Rd. (turnoff by Mayflower Mall/CBU) – Overnight one-lane closures until Oct. 31.
  • Trunk 4 (Kings Rd., Sydney River – roundabout to Kenwood Dr.) – One lane until Dec. 15.

Colchester County

  • Highway 104 Overpass, North River (Trans-Canada stretch west of Truro) – One lane until Oct. 31, closed 24/7. Major commuter route.
  • Route 311, North River (Farnham Mill Rd. to Mountain Lee Rd.) – One lane until Oct. 31.
  • Slade Road, Tatamagouche (Lake Rd. to West Tatamagouche Rd.) – Closed indefinitely (bridge closure).
  • Wittenburg Road (Coldstream Rd. to Route 224, near Middle Musquodoboit) – Closed for culvert replacement until Oct. 3.

Inverness County

  • Glendale Bridge, Hwy 105 (west of Whycocomagh) – One lane with lights until Oct. 31.
  • Glendale Mountain Rd.Wrapping up Sept. 15 – Closed for culvert replacement.
  • Highway 105 (east of Morrison Rd.) – One lane until Sept. 29.
  • Hunters Rd., Port Hood (to Little Mabou Rd.) – One lane until Oct. 31.
  • New Ferry Rd., Mabou – One lane until Oct. 31.
  • Trunk 19, Port Hood (toward Mabou Bridge) – One lane until Sept. 30.
  • Upper Southwest Mabou Rd. – One lane until Oct. 31.

Pictou County

  • Highway 106 (Granton to Pictou rotary)Should now be wrapping up (scheduled through Sept. 10).
  • Moore’s Ford Bridge, River John – Closed, detour via West Branch Rd. and Route 256.
  • Pryor McDonald Bridge, McPhersons Mills (Route 347) – Northbound lane closed until Sept. 26 (signals in place).
  • Welsford Bridge, River John (Old Pictou Rd.) – Closed, detour via Old Pictou Rd. and Trunk 6.

Richmond County

  • Janvrin Harbour Rd., Port Royal – One lane until Oct. 31.
  • Loch Lomond Rd. – Alternating closures until Sept. 29, includes weekends.
  • Mountain Rd., SeaviewWrapping up Sept. 15 – One lane for culvert replacement.
  • St. Peters Fourchu Rd., St. Esprit – One lane until Oct. 31.
  • Veterans Memorial Dr., Arichat – One lane until Sept. 30.
  • West Bay Rd., French Cove – One lane until Sept. 30.

Shelburne County

  • Trunk 3, Shag Harbour (west of Evelyn Richardson School) – One lane until Nov. 30.

Yarmouth County

  • Pembroke Bridge, Pembroke Rd. (north of Yarmouth town) – Closed until Oct. 20. Detour posted.
