Detour Digest: Road work in Bedford, Timberlea, and Oxford, plus other delays (Posted Oct 22 2025)

Detour Digest – October 23, 2025

New cones are up in Timberlea and Falmouth tomorrow, with a full bridge closure outside Windsor and more lane restrictions across HRM. Crews are making the most of the final stretch before winter, so plan extra time for your morning and weekend drives.

HRM roadwork

St. Margarets Bay Road – Coronet Ave. to Quarry Rd.
Date: Thursday, Oct. 23 | Time: 9 a.m.–4 p.m.
Stop-and-go traffic for roadway maintenance near Timberlea. Consider detouring via Prospect Road to avoid delays.

Woodlawn Road – Mount Edward Rd. to Valleyfield Rd.
Date: Thursday, Oct. 23 | Time: 9 a.m.–4 p.m.
Final day of lane drops for road repairs in Dartmouth. Expect congestion near Mount Edward.

Broad Street – Bedford
Date: Friday, Oct. 24 | Time: 9 a.m.–4 p.m.
Full closure between Samaa Court and 451 Broad Street for Halifax Water maintenance. Detours via Larry Uteck Boulevard.

Provincial roadwork

Castle Frederick Road – Falmouth
Date: Thursday, Oct. 23 | Time: 7:45 a.m.–2:20 p.m.
Bridge closed to all traffic. No detour available. Local drivers should plan alternate routes via Highway 1 or Highway 101.

Bedford Bypass – near Magazine Hill
Date: Ongoing
Lane drop heading toward Burnside. Watch your speed and merge early.

Weekly and long-range roadwork

Oxford Street – Quinpool to Jennings
Date: Weekdays until Oct. 31 | Time: 7 a.m.–4 p.m.
Two-way traffic maintained with an altered centreline. Expect minor delays.

Windsor Street Exchange project (Robie–Young–Bedford Highway area)
Date: Ongoing through fall 2025
Periodic lane reductions and overnight closures. Heavy traffic expected during peak hours.

Spring Garden Road – streetscape upgrades
Date: Continuing through late 2025
Intermittent closures and pedestrian detours between Queen Street and Brunswick Street.

North End water-main renewal (Agricola and Gottingen corridors)
Date: Active through November
Rolling lane reductions as Halifax Water completes seasonal work.

Macdonald Bridge – Halifax to Dartmouth
Date: Select nights and weekends through fall
Alternating lane closures for maintenance. Schedule updates available via Halifax Harbour Bridges.
