Dinner à la Stutz

I am all about eating locally and sharing the local love. I couldn’t have been happier when Stutz contacted me and offered to send some goodies my way.

From the world famous orchards of the Annapolis Valley, a region in Nova Scotia, Canada renowned for apples and apple lovers comes Stutz Hard Apple Cider – a beverage that is wonderfully refreshing, delightfully refined and slightly rebellious.

The first thing that came to my mind when I received the package was, what can I do with it? Besides the obvious of course! 😉  Enter my Stutz-themed dinner party:

I invited my Mom down to join in the fun!  We spent the afternoon cooking…

Apple Cider Marinated Pork Loin

Grilled to perfection.

A good hour passed while we made the world’s greatest batch of Risotto – Apple Pecan.

Dinner is served!

Juicy pork loin marinated for 24 hours in hard apple cider, shallots, garlic, fresh rosemary and more.  Recipe can be found here.

The Apple Pecan Risotto was outstanding.  Having a bit of patience in the kitchen always pays off. 😉 Recipe can be found here.

Beans & carrots picked fresh from the garden this morning.

Cheers!  The cider was an all around hit; straight up and in the recipes.

Thanks to Stutz for providing me with a lovely goodie basket.

All recipes can be found in the post below this one.

What a day.

I weighed in this morning and was down 1.2 lbs.  I’m pretty happy with that considering near the end of the week I didn’t track.  I know, I know…

Hubby and I dug in and got most of the household chores done this morning.  Floors were hand scrubbed, bathroom cleaned, recycling done, laundry out on the line and in general the house was tidied. 🙂 Yay!

PS.  Do you remember my grandfather’s diary?

My Mom has got her blog, Aldershot 1940, up and running.

Aldershot 1940 brings to life the year 1940 as journalled by our father, Private Reginald L. Murphy, Royal Canadian Regiment, stationed at Aldershot Camp, England. Seventy-one years later we will share his words, retrace his travels and wonder.

Those interested in England (especially the greater London area) may be pleased with his tales of theatres, restaurants, pubs, cinemas and parks.

Romantics may enjoy that in this one year, our father met, fell utterly in love with and married, our mother. They were from very different worlds.

She’s done a few posts, so make sure you start at the beginningAlso, please feel free to leave her comments/feedback, as she’s very interested in hearing what people think of the site.
