Saturday, Jan. 16, dinosaurs will return to the Museum of Natural History in Halifax as it opens the new exhibit Dinosaur Discoveries: Ancient Fossils, New Ideas.
“This is a wonderful exhibit on loan from the American Museum of Natural History in New York,” said John Kemp, museum manager. “It picks up the story where we left off last year and gives more information about dinosaurs for audiences of all ages.”
New discoveries and technologies reveal how dinosaurs lived, moved and behaved. This exciting exhibition showcases the world of modern paleontology, introducing a dynamic vision of dinosaurs and the scientists who study them.
Visitors can learn how advanced technologies allow scientists to look at fossils in fresh ways, examine realistic models and casts, and see dinosaurs walk, run and move their long necks in fantastic computer simulations. The exhibit includes a number of authentic pieces including a massive triceratops skull and a number of fossils and dioramas.
Last year more than 50,000 people visited the Museum of Natural History’s Dinosaurs Unearthed exhibit. This new exhibit goes further to look at the science of how dinosaurs lived. The exhibit runs until May 8.
Dinosaur Discoveries: Ancient Fossils, New Ideas is organized by the American Museum of Natural History, New York, in collaboration with California Academy of Sciences, San Francisco; The Field Museum, Chicago; Houston Museum of Natural Science; and North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, Raleigh.
