Dispelling Fitness Misconceptions w/ Sculptura Fitness

Working in a hospital I can appreciate the importance of healthy living and disease prevention. At Short Presents we talk a lot of about food and nutrition, and healthy recipes, but food and diet is only one part of the equation.

Exercise is such an integral part of living well and living longer. Recently I’ve had the opportunity to attend a very of her Pilates fusion fitness class at Sculptura Fitness. Essa Horvach owner and fitness class instructor literally built her business from the ground up. She’s passionate and she’s got a fresh perspective on female fitness. With a degree in Kinesiology, Essa confidently designs and implements all her fitness classes herself.

Sculptura’s fusion classes are offered three times a week and combine cardio, pilates and yoga all fused into one mega fitness class. You won’t waste any time at these classes, so if you’re tight on time and you want to make the most of your workout: these classes are your best bet.

Reasons you should give Sculptura classes a try:

#1 – More Than Just Cardio:

Essa’s classes are specifically designed to help you develop lean muscles, and burn fat. There is a misconception among women that we should only do “fat burning” cardio, as there tends to be a reluctance towards weight training because of the fear of bulking up.  The thing is you can’t expect to burn fat without building up some muscle, and cardio alone will not target the specific problem areas that us women are normally concerned with (arms, abs, thighs etc).

#2 – Small Class Sizes and Attention to Detail:

The class sizes at Sculptura are smaller than what I am used to, so it’s great because it’s like having your own personal trainer, but you get to work out with a group of very supportive girls. I don’t know about you blog reader, but I need to have other people working around me in order to keep me motivated. I’m not overly competitive, but I do like to keep up, and so being around other girls working out definitely pushes me to work harder.

#3 – Designated Class Times = Accountability

I also like the idea of going to a class because it allows a designated time slot where I am busy doing something for myself, and no one else can interupt it. I’ve tried gym memberships in the past, but found it very easy to make excuses to not go, but when there is a class at 7 pm I know at 7pm I will be working out. Having specific classes might not work for everyone, but it certainly works for me.

#4 – Feel Better About Supporting Local

Located a few blocks from the Hydrostone market it’s kind of nice to support the north end of Halifax for a change.

If sitting is the new cancer, these fitness classes are the antidote 🙂

Give it a go!

Sincerely,
