From HRPD:
The investigation into Saturday night’s homicide is continuing.

Twenty-seven-year-old Donald Chad Smith of Windsor Junction was shot
while making a pizza delivery to a building on Joseph Young Street in
Dartmouth. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigators have determined that the call to the pizza shop was placed from a payphone on
Highfield Park Drive, between Joseph Young Street and Burnside Drive.
The person who placed the order has not been identified and
investigators are interested in speaking with them. Citizens who were in
the area of the payphone on Highfield Park Drive at approximately 8:45
p.m. on Saturday night and who observed anyone around the phone is asked
to contact police.

In an attempt to minimize risk, police recommend that businesses
attempt to authenticate a customer’s identity, such as calling them
back to ensure the phone number is valid, prior to making a delivery.

Investigators with the HRP/RCMP Integrated Major Crime Unit are urging
anyone with information about this incident to contact them at 490-5333
or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online
