I’ve been working really hard to actually sit down and enjoy my meals and snacks but as a busy mom this isn’t always easy. Usually I’m up and down a million times after I sit at the table – someone spills something, throws something, needs something, chokes on something, doesn’t like something….you know the drill. But breakfasts have been a little different lately though since we’ve been trying out some new muesli from Dorset Cereals. The kids LOVE them and actually sit still and eat nicely for about 7 minutes! 🙂

You probably recognize the package, right? It’s the prettiest one on the shelf and always catches my eye when I’m grocery shopping. The fabulous thing about Dorset Cereals is that they show you what’s inside the box before you open it! You can be sure that 1/4 of the box won’t be dusty, crushed, rolled oats. You’ll enjoy the entire box and truly get your money’s worth.

Muesli in and of itself isn’t exactly the stuff to be eating in huge quantities everyday but it sure is delicious. For me,  I have to eat it in moderation so that means I usually measure it out and sprinkle it on other healthy foods (like yogurt) or have a small bowl with almond milk. It’s a fantastic way to get that “crunch” (along with some sweetness) that most of us crave!

For my children, I give them a little more free reign with muesli. I’m thrilled that there are no artificial colors or flavors since those are something we completely avoid bringing into our house. The muesli makes for an easy snack by itself, it’s fun for them to sprinkle on their own yogurt, and when they have any of the Dorset cereals with the added dried fruit they feel like they’re getting a treat because it’s so tasty!  Do check the label for the sugar content, since the dried fruit can rack up the grams of sugar. If you’re looking for a muesli lower in sugar, you HAVE to try their new Honey Granola (pictured above). It’s a lovely blend of a crunchy oats, sunflower seeds, flaked almonds, rye flakes, pecans and pumpkin seeds. They’re mixed by hand and gently baked in honey, salt and sunflower oil with just a hint of vanilla. There is no scrimping here!

The crunchy Honey Granola is my current favorite of all their recipes…it tastes fantastic sprinkled on top of apple slices with natural peanut butter. And of course the kids are fans!
